Help

How campinnepal works, what the information means, and what to do when something is wrong.

Finding a campsite

Use the campsite map and list. Search by name (English, Nepali, or common Romanised spellings), province, district, municipality, or village. Filters narrow by type, water, toilets, vehicle access, elevation, fees, season, and how recently someone reported on the place. The address bar always holds your current search, so you can share the link. If the map does not load, switch to the list view; it works without the map.

What the labels mean

  • Established campsite: a place recorded as a campsite by a source such as OpenStreetMap or an operator.
  • Private camping ground: run by an operator, usually with fees and facilities.
  • Community suggested: added by a member. It has not been confirmed that camping is permitted there.
  • Available / Unavailable / Seasonal / Unknown: what the newest source says about a facility. Unknown means nobody has told us, not that it is missing.
  • Unverified, Community observed, Operator claimed, Moderator reviewed, Authority confirmed: who stands behind the record. None of these badges mean every detail was checked in the field.
  • Last observed: the most recent dated first-hand report. Import dates are not observation dates.

Safety and permissions

We do not rate how safe a place is. We show specific dated reports, their sources, and the gaps. A river nearby does not mean drinking water is available. A marker on the map does not mean camping is currently allowed. Protected areas need permits; check the official links on each page and confirm locally.

Renting equipment

Vendors are independent shops and individuals who own their equipment. You send a rental request for chosen dates and quantities; the vendor accepts or declines. Inventory is reserved only when a request is accepted. You pay the vendor directly by the method you agree together. campinnepal does not collect, hold, or refund money, and does not inspect equipment. A “Contact verified” badge means we confirmed a phone or email, nothing more.

Contributing

Registered members can write dated reviews, add photographs, report current conditions, suggest corrections, and answer questions. Useful contributions earn points and badges. Levels reflect activity on campinnepal only; they are not a guide qualification and give no moderation powers. See the community guidelines.

Reporting a problem

Every campsite, review, photo, vendor, listing, and rental request has a Report action. Moderators review reports and can remove content, correct records, or suspend accounts. For a rental dispute, use the report on the request page; we can mediate with information but cannot guarantee refunds or outcomes.

Data sources and attribution

Some records are derived from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL). Each record shows its source. Demo records are marked “Demo data” and are not real places or businesses. Coverage is incomplete and growing.
